Sunday, 1-11 at 11am I taught my very first ZOOM SAH METHOD class!
Six people total on zoom. Each having their own individual experience. I asked for feedback and here is what I heard almost EVERYONE SAY…. “I WAS MOVED.” The general feedback was that they were able to FEEL. First it showed up as a feeling and then they felt the body BE MOVED. Its so interesting to hear them say that. It’s EXACTLY what the method is supposed to do. It’s supposed to allow you to drop your awareness in the body. To RESENSITISE you so that you FEEL what is ALIVE in you. Then ALLOW the body to MOVE as it wants. It so cool to witness others make the connection for themselves. To experience themselves in this way.
So much of our culture is living from the NECK UP…thinking, thinking, thinking….disembodied. Embodiment take practice. WHY would anyone want to FEEL again? Why is it important to be embodied? NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION, building capacity to feel without regulation.It restores natural rhythms, reducing depression, chronic stress, anxiety and enhancing resillance. Releasing trauma stored in the body. This means completing the stress response in the body by way of movement and sensation. It empowers SLOW, SAFE progress without re-traumatization.
By deepening body awareness, embodiment boosts emotional intelligence, self-awareness and authentic expression. This is why it is such a complimentary practice for ARTISTS! One of my students mentioned to me that after class she felt deeply inspired to write poetry again. This is one of the reasons I do it as well! Expression begets expression. It’s like taking out our emotional trash without having to go through it. Expressing all that has been repressed. Think about the past week. Was there a time you had to swallow your words, bite your tongue, “BEHAVE YOURSELF”, be polite, hear a song in the grocery store that you wanted to SING and DANCE out loud but edited yourself? All those things get stored in the BODY. They crave expression or they turn into “stuck energy” in the body.
This week we will meet again on the, “Spiritual Dance Floor”. We will explore shadows and light. How to express what is repressed. You know what the antidote to depression is? EXPRESSION!!!!!!!
For those who have never taken this class, here is what to expect. We begin with a body awareness meditation. Dropping out of our thinking and into sensation in the body. I coach you on how to do this. This is the foundation of practice, noticing when your mind gets envolved in thinking and story and dropping your awareness back into the body. After we anchor into our bodies and create a “home base”. We will begin to purify our bodies with breath and movement to create heat in the body and ACTIVATE the FIRE within to create new sensations, giving way to release in the body. I will guide you to structured movements to access emotions and create space to express what has been unexpressed. There is opportunity to practice BEING MOVED by way of the sound and body. Then we close with an inigration meditation and close the class.
It is difficult to express in words a SOMATIC ACTIVATED HEALING. You have to experience for yourself.
